New AI Service by ATP to Protect Players from Online Harassment

Service Overview

The Safe Sport service will be available to the Top 250 ATP singles players and the Top 50-ranked doubles players. It employs AI technologies from Sportradar and Arwen AI to monitor social media channels, detecting and hiding abusive comments in real time.

AI Moderation: The AI scans comments across 29 languages, automatically hiding toxic and abusive content.
Investigations: Sportradar’s analysts investigate serious threats and abusive comments, linking them to real-world identities.
Player Education: The service includes educational programs on handling online abuse, mitigating risks, and maintaining social media integrity.

Andrew Azzopardi, ATP Director of Safeguarding, reiterated the ATP’s commitment to player protection, emphasizing the significance of addressing online abuse. Matthew Ebden, ATP Player and Player Advisory Council President, acknowledged the widespread issue of online abuse among athletes and praised the introduction of Safe Sport as a crucial development.
