Ontario Gambling Regulator AGCO Fines CAD 70,000 to Bunchberry, Mobile Incorporated and LeoVegas Games

Additional Charges

AGCO registrar’s work is to license all online games and certify all online gaming software providers practising in Ontario. Uncertified software developers contravene standard 1.22, punishable by monetary fines, and are billed differently. Mobile Incorporated got the highest penalty (CAD 30,000) which combined unlicensed online games with uncertified games suppliers. On the other hand, LeoVegas Games and Bunchberry were asked to pay CAD 25,000 and CAD 15,000, respectively.

The regulator insisted on the need to enforce these provisions as a way to promote gaming integrity. When every online casino service provider applies for the license, they must sign it to show compliance. Any breach of such a directive amounts to monetary fines based on the number of rules contravened. Besides the conditions set by AGCO, there are other licensed Independent Testing Laboratories (IDL) whose recommendations also bind the service providers.

High Online Gaming Standards

Player protection and gambling integrity are the 2 highest standards any casino should adhere to. The regulator will constantly look out for any breach and administer the rules on behalf of the people of Ontario.

AGCO Registrar and CEO, Mr. Tom Mungham reiterated that the regulator would only allow licensed games and gaming service providers. This is in a bid to keep the game as fair as possible. Gamblers who choose to play need assurance that the online casino meets all the statutory requirements.

However, the law gives the 3 betting firms the right to appeal. They can go to the License Appeal Tribunal, an independent tribunal for a hearing.
