The Team with the Biggest Following in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
Censuswide, a globally acclaimed research company, went on this fact-finding mission on behalf of Bet365. They interviewed football revellers across the world; from Brazil to Wales. From the list given, fans were to settle on 3 teams with the biggest following in this year’s tournament. Brazil fans carried the day with an average of 51.26% of respondents. It was not surprising since the Samba Boys were among the tournament favourites. Moreover, they have one of the best squads in this year’s edition and have the best history in the championships.
Argentina fans were the runners-up with an average of 47.92% of the respondents. La Albiceleste hope to replicate their 1986 glory when they won, thanks to Diego Maradona’s heroics. It is also the only time Lionel Messi, one of the best players of the century, has the cup in sight.
The Three Lions supporters came in third with an average of 41.01%. Their 6–2 win against the Iranians in their opening match gave Gareth Southgate’s men the validation to go through. Maybe this was the end of their 56 years of waiting for football’s coveted trophy.
Germans and Spanish
Other notable football fans in the race were Germans and Spanish, polling 24.6% and 20%, respectively. After a good show in Europe’s Nation League, German fans hope their team will continue to produce good results. 2018 was their worst tournament, considering they were champions in the 2014 edition in Brazil.
As for Spain, their excellent run witnessed in Euros was a boost. From 2010 to date, the team has gone full circle, and the fans are optimistic that they will perform better than the 2014 and 2018 editions.
